“Different people in different parts of the world can be thinking the same thoughts at the same time but for different reasons. I try to make films which connect people.”

Krzysztof Kieślowski

Eureka Studio is a Warsaw-based production company, founded  by Natalia Koryncka-Gruz aiming to produce independent films with potential for distribution and international festival access.

Our goal is to create films that describe a contemporary world. We want to follow heroes/heroines who fight for a human face with passion, perseverance and empathy, raise universal themes that are common to people in different places around the world.

We hope that our films will move audiences in different countries and bring people together.

EMPATHY | PASSION | PERSEVERANCE

Simona

Simona Kossak – who was she, really? The legendary researcher who lived surrounded by wild animals in the Białowieża Forest? Why did she escape her family home – the famous Kossak dynasty? What was the life of the first ever Polish eco-activist like in the 1970s?

Unique photos and recordings (often presented for the very first time) from the archives of Simona and her life partner Lech Wilczek take us to the primeval Forest and allow us to experience a unique life away from civilization. Simona was the favorite of a raven terrorizing the area, she was also a mother to a lynx and a couple of elks, and her empathetic approach to animals and plants not only allowed us to see the Białowieża Forest as a world-unique ecosystem, but also helps us understand that we are flatmates on Planet Earth and that we should let other creatures live. This vibrant and uncompromising visionary way ahead of her time often had to fight alone for the well-being of nature and our respect towards it.

A Minor Genocide

Three generations of women: mother, daughter and granddaughter are talking about the trauma they experienced during the pacification of Socha village on 1st June 1943.

The starting point is the family tale, but in the film, beginning from the story of the little heroine, we explore the world of a child within the war oppression as well as the cruelty, which has its various aspects in different wars, but also even in peaceful times, when it is clearly revealed in the relationship between humans and animals.

Warsaw by Night

Friday evening, Warsaw. The city becomes alive again. People are flooding the pubs, clubs and discos to couple up.

An 18-year-old boy who loves without reciprocity and a girl who loves another girl; two women – the wife’s sister and husband’s lover, a thirty-year-old single man and a girl who is looking for sensations, an older woman and an older man.

We are spending the evening and night following them. They are together for several hours. They play. They put on their masks. They are looking for love, closeness, other people.z
